Community Development Department Review Processes
The majority of new development requests in the Village are reviewed
by the Architectural Review Board and/or the Zoning Board, depending
on the scope of the proposal, before being forwarded to the Village
Board for final dispensation.
Zoning Board
The Zoning Board is a 6-member (5 full members and 1 alternate
member) advisory body, appointed by the Mayor and Board of Trustees,
which considers development requests related to zoning, and provides
recommendations to the Village Board for final approval. The
Zoning Board is responsible for conducting Public Hearings for
such development requests as rezoning and subdivision, Special
Use permits and variations (except when related to Planned Unit
Developments and Annexations requests). The Zoning Board also
considers all zoning appeals and makes recommendations for all
requests to the Mayor and Board of Trustees for their consideration.
The Zoning Board meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each
month at 7:00 p.m. in the Public Meeting Room at the Village
Hall. Information regarding review and approval processes that
receive review by the Zoning Board can be found and downloaded

Architectural Review Board
The Architectural Review Board (ARB) is a 7-member (6 full members
and 1 alternate member) advisory body, appointed by the Mayor
and Board of Trustees, which considers proposals for new or revised
commercial, industrial, assembly uses, and multi-family developments,
and provides recommendations to the Village Board for final approval.
The ARB reviews exterior building elevations, signage, site plans,
landscape plans, photometrics (lighting) and exterior equipment
screening plans. The ARB also conducts Public Hearings for certain
exterior improvements (such as signage) requiring a variation.
The Architectural Review Board meeting is held on the third Tuesday
of each month at 7:00 p.m. Information packets that detail review
and approval processes, involving the ARB, can be viewed and
